Online computer networking studies
As a computer network administrator, it is your job to set up, test and ensure the health of computer network systems. One day you might set up a single computer for a small business, but on another you could be responsible for establishing connectivity or upgrading software for a large corporation with several hundred machines. Computer network administrators work for large and small businesses, the federal government, and Fortune 500 corporations. These professionals usually are required to hold at least a bachelor's degree in computer or information science or a related field, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports.
Accredited online computer networking programs
Distance learning has become an accepted form of education for technical training and college studies. In addition, web-based studies can prepare professionals for the distributed engineering teams and remote communications important to many IT firms. Online programs offer a range of educational paths, from associate to master's degrees. Computer networking programs show students how to implement, maintain and troubleshoot computer systems; keep networks secure; and create proposals for company-wide upgrades to hardware or software. The BLS notes that computer networking is a high-growth field set to expand from 2008 through 2018, and computer network administrators earned median annual salaries just under $70,000 in 2010.
