General Psychology
This specialization is offered to those learners who wish a great deal of flexibility in designing and personalizing their education. As an example, learners may wish to build an interdisciplinary program of studies based on the intersection of psychology and education, business, or human services.
Master of Science in General Psychology
This area offers learners a great deal of flexibility in designing and personalizing their education since some individuals enter graduate school uncertain about their professional and occupational plans. They can choose this course of study as an opportunity to explore the curriculum and later decide to apply to a different specialization. These degree requirements are not intended to prepare graduates for licensure as a professional counselor or psychologist.
PhD in General Psychology
This specialization is offered to those learners who wish a great deal of flexibility in designing and personalizing their education. Included in this specialization is required coursework focused on the foundations of graduate study in psychology along with a wide choice of elective courses. With the guidance of faculty mentors and academic advisors, learners select the most relevant elective courses from many areas such as addicitons, health, family, sport and educational psychology. This specialization also allows for learners to focus their dissertation research on very specific areas of interest.
Pursuing graduate education in this increasingly complex discipline requires careful examination of four factors: 1) your interests, 2) educational opportunities, 3) employment and professional aspirations, and 4) requirements for licensure. Then you must consider how you will integrate high quality education and required residencies into your life. Seem complicated? Not at Capella University. Our programs are designed so you learn through a blend of theoretical principles, research and applied experiences. We accomplish this through a combination of online coursework and dispersed residency.
